Connect Shopify to Message Pro

Connect Shopify, verify order data, and diagnose authorization or update problems.

Published · Updated

Connect Shopify to bring supported order context into Message Pro. Start with one store and a controlled check before enabling order-related messages or workflows.

Integration usage flow
Illustrative usage map; capabilities depend on the provider and actual configuration.

Before you start

You need integration-management access in your workspace and an authorized Shopify account. Confirm the integration is visible in settings and choose a store and permitted order for verification without surprising a customer.

Connection steps

  1. 1

    Open the integration

Open Settings, then Integrations, choose Shopify, and select Connect store or Add store as shown.

  2. 2

    Review authorization

Enter the store domain as your-store.myshopify.com when requested, then review the Shopify app installation and permissions.

  3. 3

    Check the connection

After returning to Message Pro, confirm the store name and connection state. Use Check now when available and wait for its result.

  4. 4

    Verify data

Compare the order reference and available shipping information with Shopify; do not match on customer name alone.

  5. 5

    Review automation separately

Review any order-confirmation configuration or suggested workflow before enabling it. A successful connection does not validate message delivery.

Connection limits

Available data depends on store permissions and provider capabilities. Seeing an order or refund record does not mean Message Pro modified the order or issued a refund. Verify any business change in the store dashboard itself.

Troubleshooting

ProblemAction
No store after authorizationCheck the workspace and store used, then inspect the authorization result before retrying.
Expired authorization or disconnected storeIf scopes are missing, ask the store owner to review authorization and reconnect. Changing the domain does not repair missing permissions.
Missing order or updateMatch the order reference, store, and event time. Collect the error and follow the troubleshooting guide instead of creating a duplicate connection.

Use Shopify during a chat

  1. 1

    Start with the contact

Open the conversation and available commerce/store panel. Verify that the order belongs to the current customer; a similar name is insufficient.

  2. 2

    Choose store and order

Select the intended store if multiple connections exist. Review matching or ask for an order reference. Use customer search/linking only when supported by that provider.

  3. 3

    Review before replying

Open the order and inspect status, items, and returned details. Use tracking or refund information only when available.

  4. 4

    Draft and check

Base the answer on verified data. If the panel offers draft insertion, review it before sending. Missing information does not prove it is absent from the store.

Use it with an AI Agent

  1. 1

    Add the lookup skill

In Skills, add Look up commerce orders when available for the account and define its instructions. The agent must be authorized to act on the conversation.

  2. 2

    Use a clear question

For “Where is my order?”, ask for a reference when the order cannot be identified. Never expose another customer’s orders or assume identity matches.

  3. 3

    Define exceptions

If the provider lacks a capability or lookup fails, collect the reference and hand over. The skill reads order context; it does not authorize cancellation or refunds.

Use it with a Workflow

Start with one scenario: an eligible order arrives, an available confirmation flow sends a message, and the response is followed up. Review trigger conditions, consent, template, sending inbox, and team routing. To log a summary in Google Sheets, configure an explicit append step and map available fields; connecting a store alone does not export all orders to a sheet.
