Import contacts and review duplicates

Prepare a contact file, import a small sample, and review duplicate records.

Published · Updated

Clean the data and decide how to handle existing records before a large import to avoid duplicate entries or incorrect numbers.

Before you start

You need contact management access and a file from a trusted source that you are allowed to use.

Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the file

Review name and contact columns, normalize phone numbers, and remove empty rows.

  2. 2

    Import a sample

Start with a small file using the Contacts import option and map columns to available fields.

  3. 3

    Review the outcome

Check imported and failed rows, then inspect sample records before importing the full file.

  4. 4

    Handle duplicates

Search for duplicate records and compare their data before using the merge option if available.

Check the result

Imported records are searchable, sample values are correct, and unintended duplicates have been addressed.
